    Dan was born and raised in Northern Arizona and currently resides in Tucson, Arizona with his wife and two sons. Dan holds an M.A. in Leading Innovation and Change from York St. John University, York, England and a B.A. in History from Northern Arizona University. He is a speaker of Mandarin Chinese and lived four years in Beijing, China, two of which he engaged in research and study at Beijing International Studies University.

    Flinn-Brown Fellow

    2020 - Present

    Dan was selected as a member of the 2020 Flinn-Brown Fellowship (FBF) . The FBF, within the Arizona Center for Civic Leadership, helps emerging and experienced civic leaders from throughout Arizona expand their knowledge, skills, and networks to help address Arizona’s long-term issues.

    Greater Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce

    2020 - 2021

    Dan was selected by Greater Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce (GFCC) President Julie Pastrick and board leadership to become a member of the GFCC Board of Directors. The GFCC promotes the Greater Flagstaff community and its economy, with the understanding that a great climate for businesses and organizations must be carefully curated and interests championed locally, statewide and nationally.

    Arizona-Mexico Commission Board of Directors

    2019 - Present

    Dan was appointed by Arizona Governor Ducey, to the the Arizona-Mexico Commission (AMC) Board of Directors. The AMC is Arizona’s premier cross-border nonprofit organization with a mission to improve the economic prosperity and quality of life for all Arizonans through strong, public/private collaborations in advocacy, trade, networking and information.

    Dan serves as the Associate Vice President for Global Affairs at the University of Arizona.
